Women in Art: Stylistic Choices when Portraying Men and Women in Art

Rozeal.’s exhibition “Seed of Faith > Seed of Memory” incorporates cross-cultural styles such as Japanese Ukiyo-e traditions into her paintings, exploring identity and individuality shaped by both history and lived experiences. The portrayal of men and women in her artwork play with the position of intimacy, vulnerability, and power in womanhood. This contrasts with how men have historically portrayed women predominantly as symbols, ideals, or passive objects of beauty rather than as individuals with personal agency.

Join us at SPILT for a discussion with Rozeal. as she shares the stories of the men and women in her work, her inspiration, and leads the discourse on the overall representation of women throughout the history and future of art.
