The Collector's Eye: Building Your Art Collection talk with Art Advisor and Collector Cheryl Numark
A native Washingtonian, Cheryl Numark’s career in art began when she launched Numark Gallery in 1995, one of the premier galleries in Washington DC for many years. Numark represented and exhibited dozens of artists that would go on to find great(er) success in the art world, including Michal Rovner, Sanford Biggers, Tara Donovan, Sharon Louden, Kara Walker, Dan Steinhilber and many others. Shortly after closing her gallery, Numark launched the art advisory firm CNAA in 2008 to work more closely with her clients and share her enthusiasm and knowledge of the contemporary art world.
Early on Cheryl began collecting art and continues to do so. In addition to advising clients on finding art for purchase to enhance their collections, she also assists clients in the deaccessioning of art, acts as an agent on behalf of a handful of artists and is an accredited art appraiser. Her passion is thinking about, looking at and studying art. Fully immersed in the art world, she regularly attends art fairs, exhibitions and biennales around the globe, continuously absorbing as much information as possible. Her love and appreciation of contemporary art have been the backbone of her many ventures within the art world which she enjoys sharing with her clients.
